Our Adventurer Teacher

 Teacher Moein Danesh

Teacher Moein, as he is affectionately known at American Prep International School, is a colorful personality who has an amazingly varied and adventurous background. He is a native of Persia (Iran today) and is now barely 28 years old. In these few short years he has traveled widely and experienced many adventures. Some of his achievements and adventures include:

  • acquiring a computer technology degree in Malaysia,
  • working as a diver for a marine company,
  • climbing snow capped mountains,
  • serving as member of the well known Malaysia Cyberjaja Red Crescent team,
  • joining the prestigious Honda Bikers club with whom he trains and rides most weekends.

On top of all of the above Moein

  • is an animal lover (especially dogs) and
  • enjoys gardening, photography and gaming.
  • In between his teaching assignments Moein manages to restore all mal functioning electronic equipment of staff and students at American Prep (touch wood!) and ensures that the internet and other digital services are kept in good running order.

His greatest achievement, however, is that he managed to acquire a beautiful Thai wife and has now settled to a steady teaching job at American Prep International!

Over weekends when he is not biking through mountain passes he tends to his potted plants and keeps his wife company when she – also a teacher – has to mark her students’ homework books.

The following pictures give a small insight into the life of this remarkable teacher at our school.

Richard Bergh – High TOEIC scoresUntitled-1

Congratulations to Mr. Richard Bergh who managed to achieve very high scores on the mandatory English language test that all foreign teachers who are not native from USA, Canada, UK or Australia have to pass in order to get a Thai teaching license. The test comprises two sections: English Reading and English listening. Each section has a total of 400 points. Mr. Bergh managed to score 395 points on each of these sections! This is an exceptionally high score and we congratulate him on it. Students at American Prep International are fortunate to have teachers such as Mr. Bergh to model and teach a high level of English speaking and comprehension!

De Winter Testimonial

Robert De Winter (parent)

I am Lily’s and Maira’s father. Lily and Maira have a mixed European/Thai background. Which may be an advantage later in life (being bi-lingual), but initially offered some challenges as well. They started off on a regular Thai Curriculum, to build a good Thai language foundation. But pretty soon it became clear that their English skills were seriously lagging. An international school was the only option/solution…

APIS was not around yet. So its predecessor became our first choice. Quite similar in nature. A small family oriented school – actually on the same, original premises! There is one significant difference, however”

  • The present management of American Prep International has a lot more experience in successfully setting up a new school. This isn’t their first! The result is that the school runs  smoothly, with less hiccups and stress than the original school.

The thing I’m most pleased about is, that the school is still “small-scale”. Everybody knows everybody – students, parents, teachers and management alike. The school is like a big family, sometimes they have disagreements and someone gets upset, but soon they are friends again and support one another in difficult times. No security issues whatsoever.

And also, since it’s relatively new, it requires a dynamic approach in order to develop. Thinking outside of the box! Creating solutions where necessary. The staff certainly seems capable of doing so. And this, in turn, attracts pioneering parents. I like that!

Sponsored competition spelling_bee

Part B of American Prep Annual Spelling Bee is a sponsored competition. Students find parents or friends to sponsor them for every word that they spell correctly. The funds that are generated in this manner are earmarked to help support a needy community project.

The results

We are pleased to announce that students, by and large, cooperated with enthusiasm and did their part to study their words and to find sponsors at home. In total more than 7000Baht has thus far been recorded by the school office. A few outstanding sponsorship forms will be submitted today or tomorrow.

The donation to charity

The local HatYai orphanage has been selected as the organization that will benefit from our Spelling Bee sponsors and a suitable time and place for handing over the gift will soon be announced.

Appreciation

We thank all parents and students who put in time and energy to make this program a success and we know that people will be blessed by your effort.

Viki’s Father

American Prep School (APIS) emphasizes five cross-curricular values that serve as excellent core for a student’s character development.

Students are happy at APIS.

Happy family atmosphere at APIS

I have a 7 years old daughter Viki. She is attending Grade 2 in APIS. I saw APIS core values in action as teachers showed compassion, boosted kids creativity and communication in English or local language. There is mutual respect and a healthy relationship between students and teachers that creates a warm and family-like atmosphere within the school. We are satisfied with the school. Moreover, APIS is a trending e-learning school with ample resources for every subject that is taught. The school provides great opportunity for my daughter to obtain excellent knowledge in areas that will be important for her future studies and development.

Teachers are highly qualified, and in the lower classes are supported by professionally trained assistants or support staff. Me and my wife believe that APIS provides the best education that can be obtained – excellent curriculum, modern classrooms, e-learning environment and professional staff. School values discipline, hard work, and a love for knowledge.

All of this will create qualities that are priceless for kids to become excellent contributors to society or community.
