Subject: Preventative Measures against the Spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Dear:      Private school licensees

As per the WHO announcement stating that the outbreak of Coronavirus 2019 is an international public health emergency, the Ministry of Public Health announced the update of the COVID-19 infected patients and reported that from 5th January until 22nd February 2020 (7.00 am), the number of confirmed infected patients around the world was 77,286 and 2,252 deaths, 75,903 cases and 2,237 deaths in China.

In order to monitor and prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Office of Private Education Commission, therefore, specifies the measures for charter schools to adhere to as follows:

  1. Closely monitor the situation of the spread of Coronavirus 2019 from the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health.
  2. Strictly follow procedures according to Coronavirus 2019 prevention methods.
  3. Avoid traveling to countries that have a high risk of spreading Coronavirus 2019 i.e. China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macao, and other countries/areas as per any additional announcements from the Ministry of Public Health.  
  4. If teachers, educational personnel and students have travelled to, or transit in countries or places as mentioned in Clause 3, the travelers shall quarantine themselves at home for 14 days from the date of their return.  The aforesaid days are not considered as absence and leave.  
  5. If parents or other people ( in the household) have traveled to the countries or areas as mentioned in Clause 3, the school shall inform them to quarantine themselves for 14 days and they shall not enter the school ground during this period.
  6. The school shall screen all teachers, educational personnel and students every day by measuring their temperature. If in doubt, they should wear a mask. If symptoms persist, they should see a doctor as soon as possible, inform the doctor of any travel records or call the Department of Disease Control at hotline no.1422. The school may specify additional measures for monitoring and  preventing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) as deemed necessary.
  1. An example of the quarantine period: if a person arrived in Thailand on 24th February 2020, then start counting day 1 on that day and finishing (14 days) on 8th March 2020 thus they can go to work or study on 9th March 2020.
